Paul Shapiro is a successful writer and animal lover with a strong, entrepreneurial drive. He currently resides in Sacramento, California where he frequently uses his success from his recent book release to speak at events and educate the public. Clean Meat takes a look at the value that can come from growing animal-free meat products. Paul has worked within the animal rights and care industry for over 10 years. He is happy and honored to be spreading this positive message through TedX Talks and other speaking events.
In 1995, Paul Shapiro founded Compassion Over Killing, in which had the privilege of spearheading legislative initiatives in order to prevent abuse of farm animals, engage with major food corporations to help end cruel practices in their supply chains, and increase demand for plant-based proteins. Today, COK is a national nonprofit 501(c)(3) animal advocacy organization headquartered in Washington, DC, with a second office in Los Angeles, CA working to end animal abuse and cruelty.
During his 13 years at the HSUS, Paul Shapiro served as a Vice President and helped lead many legislative initiatives to prevent abuse of farm animals, as well as engage with major food corporations to improve sustainability in their supply chains.
Paul has been interviewed by hundreds of news outlets from CNN to StarTalk Radio with Neil deGrasse Tyson as an authority on food sustainability issues, and has also published dozens of articles in publications ranging from daily newspapers to academic journals. He now is a bestselling author, co-host of the Business for Good Podcast, and the co-founder of a sustainable protein company; The Better Meat Co. – a business-to-business company that helps institutional food sellers achieve their goals of culinary excellence by providing next-generation plant-based proteins for foodservice providers and meat processors to make their meat, in a word, better.
Today, Paul Shapiro, alongside his partner Toni Okamoto, hosts the Business for Good Podcast, where they talk with some of the leading start-up entrepreneurs and titans of industry alike using their businesses to help solve the world’s most pressing problems. Paul and Toni are both entrepreneurs whose companies are working to address concerns from climate change and poor public health to food security and animal welfare, hence their interest in speaking with likeminded individuals.
